About the Project
The Sex Work Policy Consortium Project, supported by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), focuses on legal reform, capacity-building, access to sexual and reproductive health services, financial empowerment, and advocacy for sex workers in Sri Lanka.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen financial literacy and business skills of marginalized communities, particularly sex workers.
- Develop tailored financial strategies to address unique challenges faced by these communities.
- Build partnerships with successful businesses to create mentorship and support networks.
- Provide hands-on support to sex worker-led organizations in establishing and operating financially sustainable businesses.
- Conduct training workshops on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, and proposal development.
- Support organizations in preparing viable business proposals and managing seed grant processes.
- Enhance governance, policies, systems, and digital presence of partner organizations.
- Monitor progress and financial management of enterprises, providing ongoing support.
Specific Deliverables
- Completion of four training workshops.
- Four finalized and approved business proposals.
- Four business establishment plans/roadmaps.
- Draft and finalize policies and SOPs for partner organizations.
- Monthly progress reports documenting business progress and challenges.
- A comprehensive sustainability report with recommendations.
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, business development, or economic empowerment initiatives.
- Proven track record of establishing financially sustainable businesses with marginalized communities.
- Experience working with grassroots and marginalized communities.
- Strong expertise in business proposal development and financial literacy training.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Fluency in Sinhala and/or Tamil, with working proficiency in English preferred.
Contract Duration and Payment
The consultancy will run for at least 8 months. Payment will be made based on the satisfactory submission and approval of deliverables.
