Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end import & export operations, ensuring compliance with Sri Lanka Customs & other regulatory bodies (TRCSL, IECD, NMRA, SLSI, etc.).
- Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, & local clearing agents to ensure timely shipments & smooth clearance processes.
- Prepare, review, & monitor shipping documents (BLAWB, invoices, packing lists, CUSDEC, HS codes, etc.).
- Negotiate freight rates, monitor logistics costs, & support cost-saving initiatives.
- Oversee air, sea, & courier shipments, including handling of special processes (switch BL/AWB, bonded cargo, transshipments).
- Track shipment timelines, maintain shipment schedules, & provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with procurement, warehouse, & finance teams to align supply chain processes.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs & maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions.
- Support continuous process improvements & operational efficiency within the Imports & Logistics function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in a supply chain-related field (especially in Imports & Exports).
- Knowledge of Sri Lanka Customs regulations, BOI procedures, & import/export compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with International Payment Terms & Incoterms.
- Strong computer literacy with excellent proficiency in MS Office & ERP systems.
- Ability to prepare reports, cost analyses, & dashboards using advanced Excel or similar tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, & interpersonal skills.
- A team player with leadership potential to supervise & guide subordinates effectively.
