Position Overview
The Mahaweli Consultancy Bureau (MCB) is seeking a Consultant to deliver actionable, evidence-based governance recommendations and enhance the credibility of MCB through high-quality publications and policy briefs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level advisory support on public sector governance strategies and institutional coordination.
- Align MCB's business development initiatives with national government frameworks and policy priorities.
- Mentor internal staff and strengthen policy/operational documentation.
- Represent MCB in high-level government forums, ensuring compliance with institutional regulations.
- Conduct independent research and prepare evidence-based reports, presentations, and publications.
- Engage in interviews with public figures to strengthen evidence-based advocacy.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Retired SLAS Officer with recent government service.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in public administration, governance, or institutional coordination.
- Direct experience with ministries, departments, statutory boards, and inter-agency mechanisms.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and advisory skills with a track record of influencing policy.
- Experience with donor-funded projects or governance reforms (an advantage).
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint) and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
Work Location
Based in Colombo with periodic travel to project sites.
Age Limit
Applicants must be below 65 years of age as of 01st August 2025.
Remuneration
An attractive and competitive consultancy fee will be provided, aligned with the candidate's qualifications and professional experience, offering significant scope for professional advancement.
