About the Role

This position is available in the Engineering Department of our terminal operations in Port of Colombo and will report to the Senior Engineer - Equipment Maintenance. The Engineer will lead the maintenance of heavy machinery with expertise in PLCs, control systems, and hydraulics, ensuring safe and efficient operations through troubleshooting, preventive routines, and teamwork in a 24/7 industrial environment.

Responsibilities

Lead maintenance activities for heavy machinery.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs, control systems, and hydraulics.
Implement preventive maintenance routines.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a time-critical environment.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics preferred) from a recognized university.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, with at least 3 years in container handling equipment or similar heavy machinery.
Prior experience in a port or container terminal environment is highly desirable.
Solid understanding of PLCs, drives, electrical control systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and mechanical assemblies.
Hands-on experience in troubleshooting electrical and control system faults.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and reporting skills.
Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Strong safety awareness and adherence to industry safety standards.
