Job Overview
FPA Sri Lanka is seeking a Principal Investigator (PI) to lead a project addressing Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in Sri Lanka. This role involves providing technical and scientific leadership for research and evidence-generation components, ensuring methodological rigor and ethical integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and finalization of the research framework, methodology, and data collection tools, ensuring alignment with sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, and human rights-based approaches.
- Oversee ethics approvals and ensure compliance with ethical standards, informed consent, confidentiality, and do-no-harm principles.
- Provide technical oversight of data collection, management, and analysis, supervising research assistants and field teams.
- Prepare interim and final technical reports, research outputs, and evidence-based policy briefs.
- Support dissemination, validation, and stakeholder engagement activities, including consultations and national dialogues.
- Provide technical advice to FPA Sri Lanka and partners, ensuring research findings inform policy, advocacy, and national health promotion strategies.
Person Specification and Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD) in public health, medicine, social sciences, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in leading research studies, preferably in SRHR, gender-based violence, harmful practices, or human rights-related fields.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports and publications.
- Experience working with donors, government institutions, and ethics review committees.
- Familiarity with IPPF, UN agencies, or international NGO research and safeguarding standards will be an asset.
