Job Overview
The Head of Research will lead and manage the Bank's research function, providing strategic insights, economic and market analysis, and data-driven recommendations to support policy formulation, product development, and long-term business planning.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research on macroeconomic trends, industry developments, customer behavior, competitor analysis, and regulatory impacts.
- Support strategic planning with data-driven insights and scenario analysis for executive decision-making.
- Develop comprehensive market intelligence reports, economic reviews, and white papers for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with departments such as Product Development, Risk, Credit, Treasury, and Strategy.
- Monitor global and local economic indicators and assess their impact on the Bank's operations.
- Guide and mentor a team of researchers, ensuring high analytical standards and timely output.
- Represent the Bank in forums, conferences, and meetings on research and economic matters.
- Maintain relationships with academic institutions, think tanks, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications in Banking, Finance, or Economics are advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years' post-qualifying experience in economic/market research or strategic planning.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- AI literacy and excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan and global economic environments.
- Proficiency in research tools and data analytics software.

Age
Preferably below 55 years of age as of the closing date of applications.
Method of Selection
Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview based on qualifications and experience.
Conditions of Employment
The position is equivalent to the grade of Assistant General Manager on a contract basis, with annual performance evaluations.
Remuneration
