Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect the laboratory for cleanliness, tidiness, disinfection, and waste disposal.
- Institute and enforce measures to prevent cross-infection and other hazards.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain MSDS for all chemicals.
- Allocate staff to sections of the laboratory and manage duty rosters.
- Maintain lab stores, inventories, and document registers.
- Conduct annual verifications of inventoried items.
- Supervise technical operations in the Microbiology Department.
- Develop and maintain internal and external quality control schemes.
- Assist in reporting and improving quality standards.
- Authorize disposal of unusable items following relevant procedures.
Qualifications:
- SLMC registration is required.
- Science-based degree or recognized diploma in medical laboratory technology.
- Over 15 years of experience in clinical microbiology.
- Minimum of 5 years as an in-charge of a microbiology laboratory.
- Strong leadership qualities and teaching capacity.
